Random Blurb

Welcome to my personal homepage. If you like silly numbers, my Erdös number (like a Bacon number, but for mathematicians, not actors) is 3 (I coauthored a paper with Dan Halperin who has a Erdös number of 2). I'm still looking for a chance to make my Erdös-Bacon number finite! I did appear in a commercial (as a dancer), but I have no film work yet. On a more serious note, my research interests and academic associations are detailed elsewhere.

I graduated from Stanford University in 1996 where I completed my B.S. in Computer Science. I then switched coasts and moved to MIT where I obtained my PhD in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering in 2001, working in the Artifical Intelligence Lab. I escaped the cold climate of Boston and returned to my academic roots as a postdoctoral scholar at Stanford University from 2001 to 2003. I then spent 6 months working at Intel Research.

I am now a faculty member at the University of California at Riverside in the Computer Science and Engineering Department.

While at Stanford as an undergraduate, I picked up a number of interesting pursuits. My first year, I starting playing ultimate which I have continued to play ever since. I also started teaching computer science and ended up teaching seven quarters in the CS198 section leading program teaching first-year programming at Stanford. I have always loved to teach and the 198 program is one of my great memories of my undergraduate years.

I also picked up social dancing while an undergrad. My last year I joined The Stanford Vintage Dance Ensemble where I performed dances of the 1850's and 1920's. Since then I have continued to dance social partner dances and love it.

My great friend and twice-former-roommate Scott and I began Christian's & Scott's Interactive Top Ten List in 1995. The list has been running continuously ever since and we both find great pleasure in providing humorous lists on a semi-weekly basis.

While a graduate student, I took an interest in the game diplomacy. I took it upon myself to convert the game to full web-based play. I now run BOUNCED.
